Choosing a Lawyer

What to consider when looking for a criminal defense lawyer

Providing Criminal, Personal Injury and Military LawWe recommend that you take the time to meet with several criminal defense attorneys before deciding which one to hire.  An experienced attorney can explain the legal issues and procedures involved in your particular case and jurisdiction.  During these meetings you can evaluate the attorney’s knowledge, manner, and ability to explain the situation clearly in a way you can understand.

What to bring with you

We recommend that you bring all of your paperwork from court, the names of any potential witnesses, and any other documents that you feel are important or relevant to your case.  You may also want to write out a brief summary for the attorney to help you summarize the facts for him or her in a clear and concise fashion.

What to ask

We recommend that you ask how much experience the attorney has in the area of criminal law that applies to your case.  You should also ask how much the attorney will charge to represent you; how much trial experience he or she has; and whether he or she will be the specific attorney representing you in court.

Be skeptical about lawyers who promise or even guarantee a particular result in your case.  It is virtually impossible for an attorney to truthfully guarantee a particular result.  In many instances, it can even be unethical to promise a particular result.  If such promises are made, you are probably well advised to seek other representation. At Krupa and Clark we have built our reputation by providing honest, aggressive, professional and personalized representation.  Most clients come to us because they were referred to us by lawyers, other professionals, or a previous client.  We have worked hard to earn this sacred trust and the only promise we make is to remember it every day when we are fighting for our clients.
