Michael Steven Clark was born and raised in Northeast Tacoma. He is one of the founding partners of The Law Offices of Krupa & Clark. His primary area of practice involves the defense of individuals and corporations under criminal investigation or facing criminal charges in state and federal court.

Decades of Professional Experience
For over 20 years, Mr. Clark has been assisting clients in Western Washington through jury trials of complex criminal charges. He has established a reputation for successful results from one of his very first cases, a highly publicized manslaughter case involving a mother accused of leaving her child in a hot car. As one of Mr. Clark’s first not-guilty verdicts, this case set the precedent of numerous acquittals and positive verdicts in complex cases ranging from luring a child to felony assault charges, and well as recovering attorney fees in many domestic violence matters.
Appeals & Civil Litigation Practice
In addition to his trial practice, Mr. Clark has successfully handled appeals to the Washington State Court of Appeals and to the United States Court of Appeals in the 9th Circuit. Mr. Clark also has extensive civil litigation experience handling auto accident cases, police misconduct and civil rights cases, and a variety of other civil cases. In addition, Mr. Clark has experience representing business owners in complex civil litigation. In this regard, he has drafted and argued numerous motions to dismiss and motions for summary judgment. Mr. Clark has participated in numerous arbitrations and mediations, where he has succeeded in achieving significant monetary awards for his clients.

In fact, he has represented relatives of prosecutors, other lawyers, doctors, and other prominent individuals accused of crimes in Washington State. Mr. Clark has presented at several continuing legal education seminars for the Washington State Bar Association on such topics as appellate advocacy, defending domestic violence cases, and case law updates.
Mr. Clark is married with two children. In his personal time, he enjoys playing soccer and coaching youth sports, making pizza in his wood-fired pizza oven, and fishing the great rivers of the Pacific Northwest.
Mr. Clark received his B.A. in Sociology from the University of Washington in 1990. He received his Law Degree from the University of Puget Sound in 1993 graduating with honors (Cum Laude) and serving as an associate editor on the University of Puget Sound Law Review. He began his legal career as a volunteer intern with the Pierce County Department of Assigned Counsel where he learned that he liked fighting for the underdog. While still in law school he began to work for a local Tacoma criminal defense firm where he achieved "not guilty" verdicts in his very first bench and jury trials. In 1997, Mr. Clark and his partner, Steven Krupa decided to start a firm of their own.
